At Rederij Mokum it is possible to book an extensive High Tea instead of lunch. The historic riverboats of Rederij Mokum are ideal for a High Tea thanks to their cosy long tables. When you arrive on board, the tables will be covered with delicious sweet and savoury treats alongside an exclusive range of tea (or a nice glass of prosecco).

    • Mini ham sandwiches with Zaan mustard sauce
    • Pinweel tomato sandwich with halibut and horseradish cream
    • Assortment of wraps (with fillings such as caprese, roast beef, and smoked chicken)
    • Scones, clotted cream, jam
    • Fresh fruit salad with whipped cream
    • Various macarons
    • Delicious homemade cakes
    • Chocolate truffles
    • Various types of tea

In the Netherlands, we know high tea as a meal between lunch and dinner. A kind of luxury afternoon ritual in which many sweet treats and sometimes a glass of champagne is consumed.

In England, the land of High Tea, it does not have much to do with a ritual for spoiled ladies. High Tea was primarily intended for the working class who ate a meal around six in the evening at a normal kitchen table. Hence the 'high' tea in contrast to the afternoon tea that was consumed at a low coffee table.
